Little about me
My name is Floortje, born and raised in the city of Groningen. As a child, I was always active and played various sports. However, I lost my enjoyment of exercise due to injuries and mental challenges. During my studies, I lived an unhealthy lifestyle, took medication, and didn’t feel good about myself. At a certain point, I knew something had to change.
I started working out and went to the gym. I ended up losing more than 20 kilos. But perhaps even more importantly, my mental health improved dramatically. Exercise became my outlet—a moment for myself, when I could clear my head and focus on what my body needed.
After losing weight, I looked for a new goal to stay motivated. That’s how I discovered powerlifting, and soon I was competing in competitions. That challenge gave me new enjoyment and direction.
My own experiences, combined with my studies in Social-Work, have shown me how strong the connection between body and mind is. Sport helped me to achieve better mental balance, and that inspired me to delve deeper into this field. I finished the minor: Active and Healthy Lifestyle and completed my training as a personal trainer.
Now my mission is to help others feel stronger both physically and mentally.

It’s great to train with Floortje! She clearly knows what she’s talking about and is good at explaining why we do certain exercises in a certain way. This helps me understand the exercise and perform it better. What I also appreciate is that she not only gives instructions on what can be improved, but also points out what I’m already doing well. Six months ago, my job changed and I wanted to use that opportunity to change my lifestyle as well. After almost 20 years of not exercising, this was a big step for me that I had put off for a long time. With Floortje’s help, I started working out twice a week. Once a week, I receive coaching so that I can learn to do the exercises properly and effectively, which makes me feel more confident and comfortable at the gym. The second time, I train on my own and write down how it went so that Floortje can think along with me and help me adjust my schedule so that I make progress but don’t get injured.
